SICAZINE is a topical antibacterial agent effective in preventing burn infections.
The product has a therapeutic effect on previously infected burns.
It is particularly effective against Gram-negative organisms, such as Pseudomona aeruginosa.
Indicated in the treatment of infected varicose ulcers, wounds, skin grafts, cuts, and other skin problems where infection impairs healing.
Care before use
You should not use SICAZINE if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance, Silver Sulfadiazine, or to any of the other components of SICAZINE.
It contains cetyl alcohol. May cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis);
Contains propylene glycol. May cause skin irritations.
Composition
The active substance is silver sulfadiazine.
The other components are based on: Polysorbate 80, polysorbate 60, glycerol monoester, cetyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol, and purified water.
Usage
The product should be used as directed by your doctor.
You should ask your doctor or pharmacist any questions.
SICAZINE should be applied in a 3-5 mm layer with a sterile spatula, or with the hand protected with a sterile glove.
For varicose ulcers, after applying SICAZINE, place an absorbent gauze dressing and a support bandage.
Take special care not to spread SICAZINE on surrounding non-ulcerated skin. It should also be applied to very moist ulcers. The dressing should be changed at least 3 times a week while removing the scab and cleaning.
In the treatment of burns, SICAZINE should be applied daily.
The administration and average duration of treatment should be defined by the physician.
Contraindications and frequent side effects
Effects on Blood and Lymph Tissue
Common: Leukopenia.
General Effects and Effects at the Site of Administration
Common: Burning sensation at the site of application.
Renal and Urinary Effects
Very rare: Renal insufficiency.
Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue Effects
Common: Pruritus;
Common: Rash at the application site (including eczema and contact dermatitis);
Rare: Argyria.
Storage
Store below 25ºC.
Protect from light.
One container of SICAZINE should be reserved for each patient.
If using jars, discard any remaining cream 24 hours after opening. If you are using the tube, you may use the cream up to 7 days after opening.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use this medicine after its expiration date.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer need. These measures will help to protect the environment.
