Calcium gluconate 10% B. Braun is a medicine indicated for the treatment of symptomatic hypocalcaemia in acute phase. Pharmaceutical form: injectable solution. It consists of an aqueous, clear, colourless to light brown solution, practically free of particles. Presentation: low density polyethylene ampoules of 10 ml packaged in cartons of 20 units.
Calcium gluconate 10% B. Braun should not be used in cases:
Hypersensitivity (allergy) to the active substance (calcium gluconate) or to any other calcium Gluconate 10% B excipient. Braun.
Hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood) which can happen if you have any of the following problems: hyperparathyroidism, hypervitaminosis D, decalcifying tumors, kidney failure, immobilizing osteoporosis, sarcoidosis, Milk-alkali syndrome), if you have hypercalciuria (high calcium levels in the urine).
Intoxication caused by cardiac glycosides.
During treatment with cardiac glycosides.
The only admissible exception is the mandatory intravenous administration of calcium for the treatment of manifestations of severe hypocalcaemia with immediate risk of life for the patient, only if there are no safer therapeutic alternatives available and if oral administration of calcium is not possible.
