The dressing is a water-resistant sterile barrier that is intended to protect the IV insertion site or wound from external contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, blood and body fluids. In vitro tests show that the clear film provides a viral barrier against viruses 27 nm in diameter or larger, as long as the dressing remains intact and leak-free.
Dressing characteristics
Features a breathable film that allows oxygen in and water vapor out. - The frame style allows for easy and precise placement, minimizing the likelihood of snagging on gloves or yourself. Provides a water-resistant sterile barrier against external contaminants, including liquids, bacteria and viruses. - Transparency allows monitoring of IV sites without needing to remove the dressing. - The dressing has a transparent, sterile film. - It is vapor permeable.
Indications
- Tegaderm™ clear film dressings are indicated to cover and protect catheter and wound sites, to maintain a moist environment for wound healing, and to secure devices to the skin.
